“Hey, Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me, I’m not sleepy and there is no place I’m going to.”
Why is my mind in Moscow? I’m still reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. It’s quite a lengthy book- I think it may even take me all summer to finish it! But so far it’s very beautiful. The characters are so endearing and different. It’s so wonderfully written also! The only downside to it is that obviously the book is a translation from Tolstoy’s original novel- so I’m not exactly reading the original wordings. But perhaps the essence is completely the same? Well, until I learn Russian I shall never know!
And it’s probably here I should mention the infamous combination of jam and toast. (Because I was joking when I said my today’s post was about it!!) haha 😛
Mrs. This One
Tolstoy is such a great writer- I still hope one day I can finish War and Peace (I started last summer… but then stopped).
As far as the Russian language thing- my wife took an intensive Russian language class this summer and the way they structure things is very different from the way we structure things… as an example, when you say that a man is married in Russian is the same in English. But when you say a woman is married, you actually say that a woman is behind a man.
Anyway, I might be able to tell you more when I take my very own intro to Russian this coming fall.

He is truly wonderful! I as well own a copy of War and Peace- I suppose I’ve never had the guts to start it!
Thanks for the heads up on Russian. Although with that example I can’t say I haven’t lost a bit of respect for the Russians! (Being a headstrong feminist and all!)
But I can imagine it’s a pretty interesting language to study 🙂
Good luck with the intro by the way!
Thanks 🙂
Ollie
Glad you’re enjoying it 🙂 X
